About Old Town
South of Lincoln Park, East of the Gold Coast and West of LaSalle Street is the residential district of Old Town, boasting some of the best-preserved turn-of-the-century architecture. The neighborhood is known for its renovated historic town homes and quiet courtyards. Shopping, cinema, theater, restaurants and bars are abundant. It is also very close to the Lincoln Park zoo and the North Avenue Beach. The center of nightlife in Old Town is on the intersection of North Avenue and Wells Street. The area is a short walk from the Redline “EL” (North/Clybourn subway stop), Purple/Brown line at Sedgwick and also at Armitage and numerous bus lines transport through the area as well. Old Town is home to the famous Second City, the training ground for comedians such as John Belushi, Mike Myers, and Bill Murray.
